Smith Electric has been a Hak Family business since George Hak purchased the company from Bill Smith in 1981. George worked as an electrician for Bill for many years, learning the trade first hand. He worked along side master electricians Dale and Karl, who are still with the company today.
George and his wife Pat ran the business out of their home office, while raising their four sons. The entire family contributed to Smith Electric, from sweeping the shop floors, to working as full time electricians. George and Pat were the perfect model of hard work and dedication that is needed to run a successful business.
George’s oldest son Brian started working with Smith Electric in 1999, and went through the apprenticeship program to further his career and solidify his knowledge and expertise in the field. After working alongside his Dad and other Master Electricians for several years Brian and George became business partners and continue to work hard to expand the company and ensure quality service.
Today, Brian and his wife Jenn own and operate the company out of their new office in Oaklyn. Pat has officially retired and George has taken on a less demanding role of Controller, allowing them more time to spend with their six grandchildren.
Smith Electric has a long history of steady growth, focused on improving the quality and range of services required to meet any customer’s needs. Today, Smith Electric maintains 15+ employees to ensure timely completion of even the largest of projects. This includes the hiring of Project Manager, Frank Boyle, who joins the team with ample electrical experience both in the field and the office. As the company continues to expand and grow with the ever changing world, it remains important that every customer receives quality service. Brian, George, Frank and Jenn work together to ensure safe, timely and reliable service; but most importantly that every customer is treated like family.
